Cloud computing and the next generation data centre technologies are transforming the way ICT services are delivered in unprecedented ways. Fabric-based infrastructure, virtualisation and cloud computing are the underlying technologies for the next generation cloud data centre. Together, they comprise a converged architecture which enables business agility and operational efficiency, while making the data centre simpler, more flexible and less expensive to operate.
This career program is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to operate and manage enterprise level Information Technology (IT) service centres, data centres, operations centres and networking centres in the area of cloud computing. It will equip the participants with the know-how to design, secure and deploy cloud infrastructure based on a converged architecture with the capability to automate service provisioning, orchestrate resources for workload allocation, interconnect public and private clouds and provide metering for utility based computing.
This programme aims to provide the theoretical and applied skills to use contemporary programming techniques in an enterprise or data centre environment, both from the theoretical perspective and as an applied discipline. It will equip you with the necessary practical knowledge and skills in cloud and data centre administration, with emphasis on network design and implementation, cloud applications development, and virtualized systems and data centres administration.
At the end of the study, you can apply the knowledge and skills in the administration of cloud systems and data centres, as well as in the support of various commercial cloud applications and cloud services. It has a specific focus on Cloud based architectures and the operational requirements resulting from the transfer of enterprise applications into the cloud.
Upon completion, you will have an unrivalled knowledge of how to effectively manage a data centre environment to optimise its effectiveness in a more efficient manner whilst meeting the strategic operational demands of the business.
You’ll be able to:
- Design and implement cloud architecture;
- Analyse various cloud environments;
- Manage a shared services data centre environment;
- Execute data centre management projects.
- Apply detailed knowledge of architectures and practices in desktop and server virtualization.
- Plan the selection of hardware platforms suited to the scale of business requirements.
- Evaluate, select and configure appropriate compute, network and storage virtualization for specific purposes.
- Implement security, management and business continuity strategies suited to a virtualized infrastructure.
- Utilise data centre scale management tools.
- Critically appraise Directory Service technologies available when choosing and planning a network infrastructure.
- Justify the selection of appropriate topologies and technologies for a given set of business goals and requirements.
- Identify, appraise and apply enterprise best practices for sever management operations and resource management.
- Apply best practice in securing enterprise systems.
- Justify the selection and use of a scripting language to automate various administrative tasks
- Apply research, information gathering, critical analysis, design and implementation techniques appropriately and effectively.
- And So Many More …
- Although there are no formal prerequisites for the course, an ability to absorb and understand technical concepts is essential together with a desire to learn more about the topics covered. A technical background is desirable in order to derive maximum benefit from the course.
- You don’t need a degree or a computer science or computer engineering degree to learn cloud computing & data center administration. You can start learning cloud computing from scratch even if you have very basic IT skills. You will just need to learn some of the main concepts, and how those concepts relate to each other. Then get some hands-on practice, especially in fixing problems.
- Though Optional But Could be an added advantage: Since cloud computing is a broad area, to learn Cloud Computing you should have some skills related to basic concepts of an Operating System (OS) — how they work and operate at a high level — e.g. Windows, Linux, and a few basic concepts about them. Really, if you are familiar with using computers for different office duties, that should provide you with enough context.
- But Don’t Worry If You Have No Prerequisite Knowledge or Experience, We will guide you from scratch!
This course is intended for anyone who wants to learn about Cloud Computing and Data Center Administration, and that may have NO or very little knowledge of it currently. It is also for experienced IT professionals who wish to be or currently are responsible for information storage or for planning, designing, deploying, managing, or leveraging information infrastructure.
